Who We Are |
The Irish Association for Alcohol and Addiction Counsellors (IAAAC) is an organisation that promotes the highest standards in Addiction counselling. IAAAC accredit those applicant counsellors who have qualified by completing the required academic third level degree and have subsequently gained the required work practice in addiction therapy. What we do |
When people are seeking the services of an Addiction Counsellor it is important that they know where to find a Qualified and Accredited Counsellor specifically trained and experienced in the field of Addiction. IAAAC is acknowledged by the relevant Government departments to be the sole accrediting body for Addiction Counsellors. Referral |
This Association maintains a register of Addiction Counsellors to help people choose the proper and appropriate help. This register provides the names of professionals who have undergone in-depth training and who are committed to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct. We act as a link between those who are looking for Addiction Counselling services and the Counsellors who provide those services. Our Counsellors work both in the private and the public sectors. Directory of IAAAC Accredited Addiction Counsellors |
The Directory of IAAAC Accredited Addiction Counsellors is a valuable referral tool available to those professionals in the Medical, Law and Teaching professions, Health Boards, Community and Private Rehabilitation services, Gardai and Social Workers. Our Executive |
The Executive is elected from submissions in writing presented and voted upon by members attending the Annual General Meeting (postal votes are also accepted) The Executive consists of Chairperson, Company secretary, and Treasurer all three, on election, becoming members of the Board of Directors. Their term of Office is Three Years. There is also elected a Vice Chairperson and up to six Executive Committee Members. Their term of office is one year. An associate member can be nominated to represent Associate members and can serve on sub committees but they do not have voting rights. The Executive is bound to meet at least ten times in the year. Our Staff |
Sharon McCluskey has been in charge of administration since she joined IAAAC in 2002. Sharon works three mornings a week. Claire McCarthy works full time in administration. |
